アメリカ便り「チャンス到来？！」〜Report from America "the opportunity has come?!"〜

Oh, so good days were yesterday and today!!

あー！なんて素敵な昨日今日!!

Yesterday, I went to the college, took a class of ESL, and joined the world language cafe, a conversation club of the college.

昨日は、大学に行ってESLを受講し、大学のお喋りクラブ、ワールドラングェッジカフェに参加してきました。

I felt little nervous in the class because I mistook the answers of the questions which I answered willingly.

授業では、自らすすんで手を挙げて答えた質問の答えを間違えてしまい、ションボリ…。

But it was OK!

でも、まぁいいや！

I felt little nervous again in the conversation club because the participant was only me at that time, and I should continued to talk with hosts in only English.

クラブでは、参加者が私一人しか居らず、クラブの主催者達とひたすら英語で話続けなければならず、緊張の連続…。

But it was also OK!

でも、まぁ…、いいや！

It is really stressful to speak and listen English, but in another side, I really like having a conversation with natives or people skilled in English.

英語の聴き取り、発言は本当にストレスが多いのですが、それでもその一方で、ネイティブの方や英語に長けた人達と話すのって本当に楽しいんです。

I heard about " TOASTMASTER club" from my dearly friend on this Monday. Just after the TalkTime finished, she talked about something with a member, and I asked her: what did they talk about? And then, I knew the club, and also she invited me to the club.

この月曜日には｢司会者養成クラブ｣なるものを、大切な友人から教えて貰いました。 トークタイムが終わった直後、彼女がメンバーの女性と何かを話していたので私が尋ねると、そのクラブを存在を教えてくれて、来るように誘ってくれました。

It is held on every Tuesday evening at the centre really close to my home.

The club is for improving making speech(toastmaster) skill, and we can participate the club everywhere in all of the world.

そのクラブは私の家からほど近いセンターで毎週火曜日の晩に行われており、スピーチのスキルを向上させることが目的で、世界各国各所で執り行われているそうです。

They have some texts show how to make a good speech. The members usually make their own speeches, and make a speech in the front of the members, in the club or contests carried out from time to time.

良質なスピーチを作り上げていくために彼らは教科書を使っており、各々にスピーチを作成しては、クラブ内や時折行われるコンテスト(昇級試験)でそれを披露するのだそう。

It's my first time to know the club, and participate to it. It was so interesting association. I listened three speeches include my friend's story.
Her story was so funny and sweet, I was always laughing with her speech, next speaker's story was also funny, and last speaker's speech was so cool.

私は今回初めてこのクラブの存在を知って、もちろんのこと初めて参加したのですが、これが本当に興味深い会で。
私は私の友達の話を含む、三つのスピーチを拝聴させていただきました。
友達のスピーチはとても面白くて素敵で、次の方のスピーチも楽しい話で、最後の方の話も素晴らしいものでした。

After the speeches, I was called to the stage as a new guest, and given a topic: If you are a doctor, how do you care for a big baby?( probably it was so.)

スピーチの後、私は新規のゲストとして壇上に呼ばれ、｢もし貴女が医者だったら、どのように大きな赤ちゃんの世話をしますか？｣（たしかそんな質問だった…)と議題を与えられました。

I was confused a couple seconds, but I tried to talk about my......husband! Lol

私は数秒悩みましたが、私の……旦那様について話すことに（笑）

I got many laughters, and I was able to speak for 1 minute and 30 seconds.

私は沢山の爆笑をかうことが出来、１分半もの間話すことが出来ました。

They gave me big ovations, and some members said me "you are so great, I can't image you have been here only 6 months. You did a good job!"

みなさんに大きな拍手をいただき、何人かの人は、｢本当にアメリカへ来てたったの６ヶ月なの？信じられない！素晴らしいスピーチだったよ！｣と言ってくれました。

My friend also talked about me to members: She(me) had not ever study English before coming here (except the period from middle school to university), she is really an amazing guy.

友人も私のことを、｢彼女はここに来るまで英語の勉強をしたことがなかったんだよ？（中～大学期を覗いて)、彼女、本当に凄いでしょ？！｣と言ってくれていました。

I was so happy to hear they said, and encouraged by them.

本当に嬉しかった！と共にとても励まされました。

I would like to participate the club from now on because I want to improve my skill of speech.

スピーチ能力も高めていきたいので、この機会に参加してみようかと思っています。

And also, my friend introduced my baking skill to members, and a man who will be married on this May asked me to make somethings for his celebration party!!! ( it is still only the one of the ideas of his plan now.)

それから、友人は私の製菓製パン経験値を会員の方々に話してくれて、この五月に結婚を予定している男性が、彼の結婚式になにか作ってくれないかと言ってきてくれました！(現時点では彼の中での一つの案に過ぎませんが…)

I was so surprised, and pretty happy to hear that!

めちゃくちゃびっくりしましたが、そう言ってもらえたことがとても嬉しかったです！

Now, I considering about starting a small business: it is almost for my own hobby, I don't mind to earn enough money by it now.

そうして今、私は小規模ビジネスについて考えています。現時点では、それでガッポリ稼ごうってわけではなく、ただ単に趣味の延長線上という形ですが。

But, if someone want my works, and would think to pay some money to my works, I immediately should do so!

でも、もし誰かが私の作るものを求めてくれて、お金を出しても良いと言ってくれるのであれば、私は今すぐにでも始めないといけません！

I was not able to sleep well because I was considering a lots of things last night.

昨夜は色んな事を思い巡らしていて満足に眠れませんでした。

And today, I invited to the Indian cooking meeting held at my friend's home. We made Indian cooked rice, and had a potluck party with beautiful Indian food and other good dishes and desserts we brought to her.

そして今日、友人宅で開かれる「インド料理を作ろう」の会に呼ばれて行ってきました。私達はインドの炊き込み御飯を作り、その後、美味しいインド料理と其々に持ち寄った料理でパーティーをしました。

The cooking was so interesting!
Her cooking was really healthy and amazing, using a lots of spices and vegetables.

インド料理を作るのはとても楽しかった！
彼女の手料理はとても健康的で素晴らしく、色んな種類の香辛料や野菜をたっぷり使っていました。

She taught us very carefully, and prepared many dishes for us.

彼女は事細かに教えてくれた上に、たくさんの料理を用意してくれていました。

Everything was pretty good!

どれもみんな美味しかった！

I enjoyed eating amazing Indian food, beautiful camembert cheese
dips with crackers, and sweet peanuts batter cookies.
Incidentally I prepared zucchini cheese loaves and Japanese pickles.

It was so sweet time :)

素晴らしいインド料理と、美味しい〜カッテージチーズのディップに（クラッカーと一緒に）、可愛いピーナツバタークッキー…どれもこれも美味しくって手が止まりませんでした。

本当に最高なひと時でした‼︎

I talked with the friend, today's hostess, until the evening.
She taught me a lots of things, and I was able to improve my English this time as always being with her.

本日の主催者である友人と夕方まで話し続け、彼女は今回もいつものように沢山の事を教えてくれて、私はまた少し英語力を上げることが出来ました。

My friends also recommended me to hold a a baking class in churches or somewhere.
This is pretty good idea to me.

友人達は、教会などどこかでお菓子作り（パン作り）教室を開く事も勧めてくれました。なるほど、いいアイデアです！
