Report from America "Taste of Spring Season"

4/15/2016(US)

※ First, I considered about continuing to post at a time like this (while terrible earthquakes have come and attacked Kyushu, Japan again and again), but finally I decided to post as always. I think that I would deliver the good news from now on.
I would appreciate your understanding.

Taste of Spring Season

There are some familiar mountain herbs (or wild plants?) in my neighborhood here.

I found horsetail as I wrote other day, then I also found brackens and took them, and I took some cherry blossoms with apologizing and praying to the trees.

I also found Japanese parsley, but I didn't took it this time.

At first, I made amakara-ni (salted and sweetened dish) using horsetail, it was just like my mom's home cooking, and served with stewed sweat potato.

I found a breakthrough recipe to remove harshness of bracken, the recipe recommended to use wheat flower ad salt: it tell me wheat flower adsorbs harshness quickly.

It was so fun and amazing!
I was able to remove harshness while only 30minutes.

And then I made steamed rice for vegetarian (without any meat or fish) for a Potluck party.
And I made steamed rice again, added chicken in my husband's strong demand this time.

Both were good!!! I felt smell of spring :)

It was my first time to make salted cherry blossoms, but I wanted to make something sweet of Spring for here friends, so I tried so. I used Japanese salt "Hakata salt" and Lemmon juice to make it.

It is just being pickled now, and I'll hang out to dry them tomorrow.

Other day, I found Henon bamboo in neighbor market. I used it to the second bracken steamed rice, and made bamboo steamed rice at next time.

I failed to cook bamboo steamed rice...: it was too sweet and dried out.
So I remade it to Japanese style Doria using a Chinese yam next day. It became good ;)
And tonight, it changed to cream pilaf using mushroom cream sauce and some additional vegetable.

And also I cooked snow peas binding with egg, it was also Dish of Japanese Spring.

I love Spring, I love Spring flowers, absolutely Spring food!
