アメリカ便り〜Report from America "My Birthday Cerebration 2016"

February 27th was my 36th birthday. I was so happy that I received so many messages from family, friends, and classmates.

Thank you so much again!!!

去る２月２７日は私の３６回目の誕生日でした。家族、友人を始め沢山の方々からお祝いのメッセージを頂戴し、感謝しても仕切れないほど大変嬉しく思っております。

改めて、ありがとうございました！

Last weekend was special days for me. On Saturday, I made beef-tail stew, mushroom cream pilaf, salad and a whiskey cheesecake. My husband invited his co-workers, and we hold a little party the night. One of co-workers prepared delicious karaage, and others of them also prepared cooked rice or big beautiful strawberries for us in spite of a sudden invitation.

I enjoyed eating the delicious dishes, and they also enjoyed eating dishes I made. I had good time with them.

先週末は私にとって特別な週末になりました。土曜日、私はお祝いにと牛テールシチューとマッシュルームクリームピラフ、サラダにそれからウィスキー入りのチーズケーキを作りました。旦那様が同僚の皆さんを呼んでくれて、その夜は細やかなパーティーを開くことに。お料理上手な同僚さん達が、急な誘いにも関わらず、大きくて綺麗なイチゴや美味しい唐揚げに、かやくご飯も作ってきてくれました。私はそれらを美味しくいただいて、お客さん方も私の料理を嬉しそうに食べてくれて。楽しいひと時を過ごさせてもらいました。

By the way, on bedside, I found a little box on my plush doll which my friends gave me as a birthday gift long time ago, on the day. I was surprised and felt happy, and I asked my husband what was that, but he did not at all answer to it. I got little angry…..
Anyway, I passed him a thanksgiving card of our marriage anniversary as like he did because I was little angry (lol)
So! The day of my birthday is also our marriage anniversary day.

ところで、その日私はベッドサイドに置いてあるお気に入りのヌイグルミ(はるか昔に友人達が誕生日プレゼントにくれたもの)の膝の上に、小さな箱が置いてあるのを見つけていました。私は驚くとともに嬉しく思い、旦那様を問いただそうとしましたが、だんな様は最後まで何にも言わずじまいで…若干イラッ…。
何はともあれ、私も彼がした様に結婚記念日のサンクスカードを渡すことに。だってちょっぴり腹立たしかったんだもん(笑)

My husband had reserved the restaurant of Space Needle on last Sunday for a long time.
We left home in the afternoon, and went Fremont Mischief Distillery at first. I enjoyed tasting some spirits; whiskey, gin, vodka, and rum. The goods of them are also interesting and fashionable, and I also enjoyed shopping.

旦那様はずいぶん前から、この日曜日に、シアトルのスペースニードルにの中にあるレストランの予約を取っていてくれました(補足：ずいぶん前でも既に土曜日はいっぱいだったそうで…)。
私達は昼から出かけて、まずはシアトル北部にあるフリーモントミスチフというスピリッツ醸造所併設のショップへ行きました。そこでウィスキー、ジン、ウォッカ、ラムなど色々な商品を試飲させてもらったり、素敵な商品を眺めては興味深く見入ったりしました。

Next, we were going to visit Starbucks Reserve Roastery & Tasting Room, but my husband did not find a parking around there, so I was looking around in-store alone a little while.
After that, we went to UWAJIMAYA at the suggestion of my husband. It was the first time to visit UWAJIMAYA in Seattle. The store is bigger than other stores, and they have much products than others. In there, I found okara and sake lees, it was also the first time to see them in the United States. I happily put them in a basket, and bought other various ingredients with them. I bought a daifuku for my snack, this was also the first time I bought it here. I completely satisfied and ate a daifuku deliciously for approximately five months.

次は、（シアトルに今年オープンしたばかりの）スターバックスの焙煎所兼直売所へ行こうとしたのですが…。周辺に駐車出来るところを見つけられず、先に降ろされた私は少しの間一人で店内を見て回ることに。
その後、旦那様の提案でシアトルの上島屋へ行くことに。シアトル店へ行くのは初めてだったのですが、そこは他の店よりも大きくてはるかに多くの商品を取り揃えていました。そこで、なんと卯の花(おから)と酒かすを発見！こちらへ来てそれらを初めて見つけた私は、嬉しそうに買い物かごに入れて、他の商品も合わせて購入。おやつに大福を買ったのですが、これも此方へ来て初めて！(補足：大福は近所のアジアンスーパーでも手に入りますが、あえて今まで買う事はありませんでした。)
すっかり満足しきった私は、約５ヶ月ぶりの大福を美味しそうに頬張っていました。

Then, we went to Olympic Sculpture Park, but we immediately scared off there because it was so chilly, and he was boring to it soon….
Finally, we arrived at Space Needle, and enjoyed the view from the observation deck. Since the time of the reservation was approaching, we went down to the restaurant.

それから、私達はオリンピックスカルプチャー公園へと向かったのですが…やたら寒いし、旦那様は“何も面白くない”とボヤくしで(正直私もイマイチだった…)、着くや否や大して見て回りもせずに退散。(＊晴れた暖かい日に来られたら、また違っただろうになぁ。)
そうしてようやくスペースニードルに辿り着き、予約時間を待つ間、展望台でシアトルの景色を一望してからレストランへ。

The restaurant also had wonderful view, and the floor was rotated, so it was possible to overlook the surrounding the tower while we sitting. The celebration started before 5:30, then sky became dark, and it became amazing night view.
We enjoyed great dishes; American Kobe steak and lobster tail, roasted mellow bones, and hearts of romaine. Of cause we also enjoyed drinking tasty beer or sparkling wine.
When we took seat, and a menu was handed to me by the waiter, a birthday card from the restaurant was also handed me with a menu. I was little surprised.
In fact, I heard about the card from a student I saw in a talking club, but I completely forgot it.

レストランも素晴らしい眺めで、更にフロアが回転することで座りながらにしてタワー周辺の景色をぐるり一望できるようになっていました。お祝いは５時半前に始まり、次第に空が暗くなり、美しい夜景が目の前に現れて…。
そんな中私達は、アメリカン神戸牛のステーキとロブスターの盛り合わせ、ラムベーコンが添えられた骨髄のソースでいただくブルスケッタ、旬のロメインレタスの柔らかい芯の部分を使ったサラダなど、大ご馳走と美味しいお酒に舌鼓をうち。
そうそう、レストランについて席に着き、ボゥイさんからメニューを受け取ったときに、私はバースデーカードも一緒に渡されてびっくり！
実は、先日このカードについて、大学の英談会で合った生徒さんから聞いていたのですが、そんなことはすっかり忘れていた私。

While we ate delicious dinner, a card arrived to us on the window. I still forgot that I heard, but I noticed that many messages were written in the card, and I decided to take my card and pen on the window in a hurry. When I got my card again 48 minutes later, there were also many messages from other customers in mine. It was so amazing!
I was so happy and I thanked my husband very much again in my mind.

美味しいディナーをいただいている最中に、窓際に乗せられ誰かしらのバースデーカードが私達の元へ届き、見てみるとそこには沢山のメッセージが書き込まれていて！私も慌てて自分のカードにペンを添えて流してみることにしました。すると、48分後再び手元に戻ってきたときには、私のカードにも沢山のメッセージが！
なんて素敵！
とても嬉しくなって、心の中で改めて旦那様にも深く感謝しました。

After the dinner, we went the observation deck again, and returned after we watched around scenery.

There were the various happenings, too, but I spent very wonderful two days.

ディナーの後、展望台へ再びあがって一望した後岐路に着き。
そのほか色々な出来事もありましたが…とても素敵な二日間を過ごさせてもらいました。

本当に、ありがとう！！！

At the end, the gift I received the night of my birthday was a pretty heart-shaped pendant with Swarovski. To I guess, it was the gift for marriage anniversary. The day I was invited to dinner, my husband had kindly put on the pendant to me before going out.

最後に。誕生日の晩に見つけたプレゼントは、可愛らしいハート型をしたスワロフスキーのペンダントでした。どうやら推測するに結婚記念日のプレゼントみたい。
ディナーにお誘いを受けた日、出掛ける前に旦那様が着けてくれました。

The back seems to be all right....
